Setup Windows Live Email account in Outlook 2002

Issue

Need to configure your Windows Live email account into your Outlook 2002

Symptoms

Workaround

STEP 1: Open Outlook 2002

STEP 2: Click the Tools menu, and select Accounts.

STEP 3: Click Add, and then click Mail.

STEP 4:  Enter your name in the Display name: field, and click Next.

STEP 5: Enter your full email address ([email protected]) in the Email address: field, and click Next.

STEP 6: Fill in all necessary fields to include the following information:

Server Information

Incoming mail server (POP3): pop3.live.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.live.com

Logon Information

User Name: Enter your username as [email protected] in the field.
Password: Enter your email password

STEP 7: Click Next.

STEP 8: Click Finish.

STEP 9: Under Account, click Properties.

STEP 10: Click the Advanced tab

STEP 11: Under Outgoing Mail (SMTP), enter ‘587‘ in the Outgoing mail (SMTP).

STEP 12: Under Incoming mail (POP3). Change the port to ‘995‘.

STEP 13: Click the Servers tab, and check the box next to ‘My server requires authentication‘.

STEP 14: Click OK.
