Error 553 File Name Not Allowed – Cause and Fixes

Requested action not taken: File name not allowed.

Causes

  • Many FTP server have restrictions on file name
    • If your file name consist of special characters, symbols or spaces in the file name, normally it may be rejected by the remote FTP server.
  • Remote FTP server may rejecting a particular file based on the file type or extension.

Fixes

Step 1: Change The File Name

Change the file name or deleted spaces or special characters that are used in the file name.

Step 2: Rename The File

Rename the file using alpha-numeric characters to name the file.
